The Adaptive Sports Center (ASC) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities through year-round outdoor adventure programs. Founded in 1987 as the Crested Butte Physically Challenged Ski Program, the ASC began with a small team of volunteers and a vision to make mountain recreation accessible to all. With early support from President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter, the organization quickly grew, now serving more than 1,200 participants annually through over 6,000 adaptive activities in Crested Butte and beyond.

Today, the ASC continues to empower individuals of all abilities-physical, emotional, and cognitive-by fostering independence, confidence, and community through outdoor experiences. Participants gain not only new skills but also renewed health, happiness, and self-belief. From children with rare conditions to veterans overcoming trauma, every participant is welcomed with compassion and support, regardless of their financial capacity. The ASC remains committed to breaking barriers, celebrating abilities, and transforming lives through the power of adventure.
