Founded in 1844 by faithful immigrants from Melle, Germany, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church stands as a cornerstone of faith, history, and community. As one of the original founding members of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, St. Paul’s has remained steadfast in its mission to share the Gospel and serve others. The congregation continues to worship in the same sanctuary built in 1858, a space rich with heritage and devotion, where an original John G. Pfeffer organ, constructed in 1869,? fills the church with music each Sunday.
Recognized on the National Register of Historic Places, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church is more than a landmark; it is a living testimony to the enduring relevance of the Good News of Jesus Christ. For generations, its members have been dedicated to spreading God’s Word throughout the New Melle community and beyond. Those interested in learning more about the church’s remarkable history and legacy are invited to request a Historical Information Booklet.
