Founded in 1935, the Museum of Indigenous People (MIP) has proudly called Prescott, Arizona, home, making it the second oldest museum in the quad-city area. The MIP is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich languages, cultures, and histories of Southwest Native American communities. Situated on the traditional lands of the Yavapai (Yavpe) Tribe, the museum offers visitors an immersive experience that honors the heritage and contributions of Indigenous peoples in central Arizona. Through thoughtfully curated exhibits and educational programs, the MIP serves as a vital cultural resource for both the local community and visitors from around the region.
The Museum of Indigenous People actively engages the public through a variety of programs, including artist showcases, traditional dance performances, and cultural demonstrations. To continue expanding and enriching these offerings, the MIP welcomes donations, sponsorships, and volunteer support. By partnering with the museum, supporters help ensure that the stories, art, and traditions of Indigenous communities remain vibrant and accessible for generations to come.
