The Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences (ASHS), opening its doors to its first freshman class in fall 2026, is Alabama’s pioneering residential high school dedicated to preparing the next generation of healthcare leaders. Located in Demopolis, ASHS offers a hands-on, STEMM-centered curriculum designed to equip young Alabamians for high-demand roles in healthcare, with a particular focus on addressing critical needs in rural communities. Students from all 67 counties are encouraged to apply, gaining access to immersive clinical training, shadowing experiences with medical professionals, and opportunities for industry-recognized certifications that prepare them for both immediate career success and further education.
Through strategic partnerships with over 30 rural hospitals and statewide health institutions, ASHS provides students with 12th-grade internships and clear pathways into careers in nursing, medical technology, informatics, and robotics. Beyond academics, the residential campus fosters a close-knit community where students live, learn, and grow alongside like-minded peers under the guidance of dedicated staff and faculty. Situated in the welcoming city of Demopolis, ASHS empowers graduates to make meaningful contributions to their communities and across Alabama, building a foundation for impactful careers and lives devoted to service in healthcare.
