Special Olympics Arizona (SOAZ) is part of a global movement dedicated to fostering inclusion, acceptance, and respect for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Rooted in the vision of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, who in 1962 created the first summer camp for people with intellectual disabilities, the organization continues her mission of empowerment through the joy of sports and community. Today, SOAZ stands as a beacon of opportunity, offering athletes a platform to showcase their abilities, build confidence, and inspire others to celebrate differences.

Through year-round sports training, competitions, and health and wellness programs, Special Olympics Arizona empowers children and adults with intellectual disabilities to lead fulfilling and active lives. Each event and initiative promotes unity among athletes, families, and volunteers, helping to create a more inclusive Arizona where everyone is valued and supported. SOAZ remains steadfast in its goal-to make the world a healthier, happier, and more inclusive place, one athlete at a time.
