ARPD is a Special District that fosters the need of our citizen's recreational pursuits and provides stewardship of our district's natural resources.

The district boundary includes the 35-miles surrounding Lake Almanor and the eight miles west to the Tehama County line. The district serves the commercial areas of Chester and Canyon Dam and the housing communities of Almanor West,  Lake Almanor Peninsula, Bailey Creek, Foxwood, Peninsula Village, Hamilton Branch, the East Shore, the West Shore and Prattville, a total of approximately 4,500 individuals.

Since 2014, Almanor Recreation and Park District has moved forward in both technology and collaboration with many of the Lake Almanor Basin's finest organizations, service clubs, community volunteers and schools to both increase the number and the quality of each event and sports program offered to the public it serves.
