Adopt. Educate. Protect. Reunite.
Mission
Animal Rescue of Carroll (ARC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the welfare of pets in need of homes throughout the Carroll area. ARC has been committed to its mission of hosting a dog and cat shelter service and caring for lost, unwanted, or homeless dogs and cats, with a focus on adoption, education, cruelty prevention, spay and neuter programs, and reuniting lost dogs and cats with their owners.
History
Since its establishment, ARC has worked tirelessly to provide temporary shelter and care for animals awaiting permanent placement. The organization was founded in 2006 by a group of passionate volunteers, officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on January 27, 2009, and received its shelter license from the Iowa Department of Agriculture on February 3, 2011. Initially operating out of a converted hog confinement building northeast of Carroll, ARC provided a safe space for dogs until construction began on a new shelter facility in 2015.
Today, ARC operates under the leadership of an Executive Director and a dedicated Board of Directors, along with a team of tireless volunteers who manage daily operations such as fostering, processing adoption applications, facility maintenance, animal care, fundraising, and grant writing. The organization also supports Carroll County’s law enforcement in cases of animal abuse, hoarding, and the rescue of strays who might otherwise face euthanasia.
Community Support
Despite facing financial challenges due to reliance on donations and grants that often do not cover the full cost of care for the animals they serve, ARC continues to be a vital resource for animals in need. The organization relies heavily on community support through donations, fundraising events, and adoption fees. New volunteers are warmly welcomed to contribute their time and resources to further ARC's mission.
With unwavering dedication and ongoing community support being essential to their success thus far; Animal Rescue Of Carroll remains committed to making a difference in the lives of animals within their community.
