For every vehicle sold at any of its locations during the month of November, Phil Long will make a donation in its customers' names to Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center – up to $100,000 total. Over the last three years, the campaign has raised more than $250,000, assisting Mt. Carmel in its mission to provide veterans accessible programs and integrated resources that empower lives. Phil Long Dealerships' 80-year legacy is deeply rooted in military service, stemming back to its founder Mr. Phil Long. A World War II Naval Aviator and combat hero, Mr. Long fought valiantly to protect the rights and freedoms we all hold dear. The group's past President and CEO Jay Cimino, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, established Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center in 2016 to champion the success of military veterans as they transitioned to civilian life. Phil Long Dealerships' commitment to the veteran and military community has never wavered and is carried forward by its current management team, led by CEO Kevin Shaughnessy. “Less than 1% of Americans currently serve in the military, and about 6% of our nation's population are veterans,” said Phil Long Dealerships' CEO Kevin Shaughnessy. “We're proud to align with Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center in supporting these brave men and women and their families who have sacrificed a great deal for our country.” Since Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center's doors first opened nearly 10 years ago, the nonprofit has assisted over 24,000 military members, veterans and their families with career transition and employment, health and wellness programs, non-clinical case management services, connection to community resources, and safe event spaces through over 149,000 client visits. Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center has offices in Pueblo, Trinidad and Alamosa, with plans for additional locations throughout Colorado. “Thank you to the team at Phil Long for their continued support of our nation's military members, veterans and their families,” Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center's Executive Director Bob McLaughlin said. “Together, we're ensuring that no veteran is left behind.” In an independent study by the National Institute for Social Impact, for every dollar invested in helping veterans, Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center doubles its value in services to the veteran community. Similarly, Phil Long Dealerships' donations during the month of November will support Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center in providing up to $200,000 in services back to those that have sacrificed for our country.
